Hagop Garavanian
...Retired Deacon of St. Gregory's Armenian Church

TEWKSBURY - Hagop G. Garavanian, age 75, died Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the Blaire House of Tewksbury, after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Tangusso) Garavanian with whom he celebrated their 19th wedding anniversay in July. He was formerly the husband of the late, Anna (Markarian) Garavanian.
He was born in Syria, December 15, 1934, a son of Mary (Sachaklian) and the late, Gabriel Garavanian. He was raised in Lebanon, emigrated to the United States at age 17, lived in Conn. where he graduated from the University of Connecticut - West Hartford. He resided in Peabody for 35 years before moving to Tewksbury in 1998.

He was a great husband and father. He dearly loved his family and participating in church activities. He was formerly a Mason in Danvers, MA. He worked as a quality control engineer at Analogic in Wakefield, Sylvania in Danvers, in addition to other local area companies.

He is survived by his wife; Marie Garavanian of Tewksbury, his mother; Mary Garavanian of No. Andover, his mother-in-law; Angelina (Campagna) Tangusso of Tewksbury, his children; Harry and Katrina Garavanian of Lowell, Gabriel and Eileen Garavanian of Tyngsboro, Maryann Fairbanks of Fitchburg, Sarah Singer of Peabody, Jeffery Garavanian of CA, Donna Mary Nelson of Lynn, David Francis and Judith Nelson of Lynn, Kenneth Michael and Theresa Nelson of Lynn, Sandra Marie and Paul Fleming of Tewksbury, Jacalyn Michelle Manning of Tewksbury,brother and sister-in-law Avedis and Susan Garavanian of No. Andover, sister and brothers-in-law; Marian and Khatchadour Terlsian of CA, John Burrill of FL, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Michael and Patricia Tangusso of Tewksbury, seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

He was the brother of the late Jacquelin Burrill and the late, Paramtzem Garavanian.

His Funeral Service was celebrated at St. Gregory's Armenian Apostolic Church, 158 Main St, No. Andover. Burial followed at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester.
