Methuen, MA – Ronald P. Swanson,76, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 27th 1933, in Cambridge, Ronald was the son of the late Paul G. and Hilma B. (Penney) Swanson. He was educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin, Class of 1951.
Ronald worked as a bank manager for the Arlington Trust and the Lawrence Savings Bank, until 1979. He then worked as an auditor for Lucent Technologies until retiring after 20 years.
He was a officer of the Haverhill Elks BPOE 165 and was also an avid golfer at Crystal Springs in Haverhill. Ronald was an avid New England’s Sports fan and when his son’s were young, coached them all in Hockey. Ronald loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ronald will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Maureen (McAvoy), his 3 children, Eric R., Wayne A. of Atkinson, NH, and Gary J. of Malden, MA. He is also survived by his 10 beloved grandchildren, Alyssa, Cameron, Leah, Katelyn, Haylee, Eric, Paige, Jenna, Jared and Julia, as well as his brother in-law's, Kenneth and his wife Lucille McAvoy and Robert Morris and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Carol Morris.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may pay their respects on, Monday, August 16th from 4-8 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock at the Funeral Home with burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
