Methuen, MA- Gertrude V. (Dempsey) Stahley, 85, died peacefully Thursday August 12th at the Courville Community in Manchester, NH, just 4 days away from her 86th Birthday, surrounded by her family.
Born on August 16, 1924 in Methuen, Gertrude was the daughter of the William and Gertrude (Morgan) Dempsey. She was a graduate of Stoneham High School and received her Bachelors and Masters Degree from Emerson College in Boston.
For several years Gertrude was a teacher at the Tarbox School in Lawrence. She was a very religious person and a woman of great faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was an avid reader.
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Charles J. Stahley, Jr, her children Charles Stahley and his wife Helene of Atkinson, NH, Barbara A. Fagan and her husband William of Albany,NY, Jane Capazzo and her husband Joseph of Hudson, NH, Peter Stahley and his wife Diane of San Antonio, TX, Mark Stahley and his wife Joanne of Exeter, NH, Mary Beth Testagrossa and her husband Dennis of Hudson, NH, Virginia Arenella and her husband Michael of Hudson, NH, and Melanie Holloway and her husband Jerry of Derry. She is also survived by her sisters, Claire Grady and Barbara Dempsey as well as 13 grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Gertrude's Birthday, Monday, August 16th from 4-8 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock in St. Monica`s Church of Methuen. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
