Obituary

Percy Stokes Stallings, 89, of 61 Schoolfield Drive, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Riverside Health & Rehab Center where he had been a resident for one year. Born September 14, 1920, in Ruffin, NC, he was the son of the late David Alexander Stallings and Lottie Durham Stallings. He was married to Annie Pruitt Stallings who predeceased him in 2003.

Mr. Stallings lived most of his life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. He retired as a Security Guard with Dan River Mills and was a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by three daughters, Eileen Dodson of Danville, Glenda Von Dameck of Blacksburg, VA and Wanda Gill of Danville; a son, Grady Stokes Stallings of Winston, Georgia; a sister, Mary Boaze of Danville and a brother, Curtis Stallings of Brosville. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a son, Randy Marvin Stallings and one grandson.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Turbyfill officiating. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 61 Schoolfield Drive.
