Mrs. Frances T. Cerra, of Woburn formerly of Somerville passed away peacefully on August 11th, at the Winchester Nursing Center following a lengthy illness; she was 78 years of age. Frances was the beloved wife of Philip A. Cerra Sr. and together they shared fifty-eight years of marriage. Born in Boston she was one of eleven children of the late Joseph and Frances (Falcone) Domenici.
Frances was a retired quality inspector for the Polaroid Corp. where she worked for fifteen years. Mostly devoted to her loving family she enjoyed cooking, sewing, decorating and especially enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. She was a kind and generous person and always put the needs of others before her own needs. Frances was a Woburn resident for nearly fifty years. She formerly lived in Somerville as a young lady where she met the love of her life while they were both employed at the Schrafts Candy Factory in Charlestown. Throughout her life Frances loved to travel and for close to twenty five years she annually vacationed in Aruba. She also loved to take day trips to Foxwoods Casino to try her luck.
In addition to her beloved husband, Frances is survived by her devoted children, Susan Soukaros of West Roxbury, Diane Cerra of New Bedford and Philip Cerra Jr. of Woburn. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Heidi Henderson, Amy Becker, James and Gina Soukaros. She is further survived by her loving great grandchildren, Philip, Anthony, David, Patrick, Christopher, Faith and Alex.
She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, the late Frank Ruggiero, Joanne DiGirolamo, Helen Bedell, Connie Barochiere, Jennie Lovejoy, Alfred, Raymond, Chester, Albert and Joseph Domenici.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, August 16th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 3 thru 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
