TEWKSBURY - Shirley Daley, age 78, died Tuesday, August 10, at the Blaire House Tewksbury, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late, Thomas J. Daley, who predeceased her in 2004.
She was born in East Providence, RI, the daughter of Lily Mellin Fontes. Shirley graduated from Bryant College in Providence, RI. She moved to Tewksbury in 1959, where she raised her family. She was a long time member of the Tewksbury Garden Club, a founding member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, and a founding member of the "Good Neighbors" Bowling League.
She is survived by her children; Anne Laska and her husband David of Branford, CT, Thomas Daley of Wakefield, James Daley and his partner Dan Lowth of Cambridge, Beth Krzesinski and her husband Peter of Tewksbury, six grandchildren; Genesee Daley, Hope Daley, Samuel Laska, Katherine Laska, Paige Krzesinski, Hailey Krzesinski.
She was the sister of the late, John Fontes.
Her Funeral was held Saturday, August 14. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett's Pond Road, West Andover, MA. Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery, River Road, Tewksbury. Memorial donations to Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472, will be appreciated.
