Laconia-----Maurice A. Lemay, 82, of 22 Strafford Street, Laconia, N.H. died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
Mr. Lemay was born December 29, 1927 in Laconia, the son of Arthur & Leona (Corriveau) Lemay. He was the widower of Eveline E. Lemay who died in 2005.
Mr. Lemay was a lifelong resident of Laconia and was an automobile dealer and owner of Lemay’s Garage for sixty years, retiring in 2004. He was in the recon business and was the recon center for Chrysler Corp. for fifty years, employing sixty people.
Mr. Lemay was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was a lifelong member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876, a member of the Laconia Country Club and a member of the N.H.A.D.A. He was an avid golfer, an automobile enthusiast, enjoyed socializing and playing cards.
Mr. Lemay is survived by his first wife, Dolores Lemay, of Idaho; a son, Greg Lemay, of Gilford; a daughter, Gay Beck, of Utah; a stepson, Chuck Contigiani, of Laconia; a stepdaughter, Nina Turner, of Gilford; ten grandchildren, Kate Lemay, Micheline Lemay, Jahannah Lemay, Daosith Lemay, Daosay Lemay, J.D. Beck, Matt Beck, Lindsey Beck, Courtney Contigiani and Margaux Bell; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Sofija and Hunter; a brother, Robert Lemay, of Laconia and six nieces and five nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lemay was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Lemay, and by four brothers, Omer, Gerard, Ralph and Ronald.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 4:00-6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. During the calling hours, the Laconia Lodge of Elks will conduct a Session of Sorrow at 5:30PM.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00AM also at the Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield St., Laconia, N. H.
