Gerard E. Gagnon, 92, of New Bedford died Sunday August 8, 2010 at Sacred Heart Home. He was the husband of the late Lorraine O. (Vanasse) Gagnon and Bertha (Gosselin) Gagnon.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Joseph and Alma (Boule) Gagnon, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. Gagnon was employed by the City of New Bedford Library Department until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent dePaul Society of Sacred Heart Parish. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his sister, Gertrude Matte; his son-in-law, Richard Frechette; three grandsons, Christopher, Matthew, and Jonathan Frechette; and five great-grandchildren, Ross, Emma, Gabrielle, Nicole, and Zachary.
He was the father of the late Mariette Frechette, and brother of the late Lionel, Leonel, and Gertrude Gagnon.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday morning at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Retired Columban Fathers, P.O.
