Beverly: Virginia M. (Cormier) Gagnon age 87 of Beverly and a former resident of Salem, died Monday evening, August 9, 2010 at Beverly Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph L. ‘Larry’ Gagnon, Sr.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Alfred and Isabelle (Dowdell) Cormier. She attended Salem schools and secretarial school and as a young woman first worked for the former CBS Hytron. Virginia left the work force to raise her family, and only in her later years did she return to work as a receptionist for several companies.
Virginia was a deeply religious and spiritual woman. Prior to moving to Beverly 5 years ago, she was a member of St. James Parish, Salem.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Ann Rossi and her husband Tom of New Hampshire, Linda R. Maynard of Lynn, 3 sons, Joe L. Gagnon, Jr. and his wife Linda of Danvers, Paul E. Gagnon and his wife Holly of Oregon, Ernest G. Gagnon and his wife Cheryl of Texas. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Agnes Healey of Beverly and Theresa Rhodes of Newburyport, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invite to her funeral mass on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Funeral arrangements are by the Levesque Funeral Home of Salem.
