Obituary

Thomas C. Banks, a 25 year resident of Arlington and formerly of Charlestown, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at his home in Arlington following an extended illness. He was 59 years old.

Tom was born in Cambridge on January 30, 1951 to Samuel and Helen (O'Brien) Banks. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. Tom worked for many years as a housekeeper at The Little Sister of The Poor Nursing Home in Somerville. He was a member of the Arlington Council # 109, Knights of Columbus.

Tom is the beloved son of Helen (O'Brien) Banks of Arlington and the late Samuel Banks. He is the husband of the late Patricia A. (Stewart). He is the devoted brother of William Banks of Maine, Edward Banks of Wisconsin, Johanne Yablonsky of Burlington, Dennis Banks of Wilmington, John Banks of Arlington and the late Helen Bernier and Michael Banks. He is the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He is the nephew of Margaret Quivey of Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom's Funeral on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at The Veterans Administration National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15 p.m. Visiting hours on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
