New Boston– Max W. Leenhouts, 90, died August 5, 2010 at the Elliot Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Springfield, Illinois on May 16, 1920, the son of Will and Mollie (Rich) Leenhouts.
He served his country in the European Theater of Operations with the 710th Bombardment Squardron of the Eight Air Corps in World War II. He was based in England and flew 30 missions over Continental Europe as a B-17 top-turret gunner.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and worked as a geophysicist for Amoco during his entire professional career.
Family members include his wife, Sally (LaFrance) Leenhouts of New Boston; four children, Stephen, Mollie, Rebecca and Martha; two stepchildren, Chris and Sherry; one sister, Florence; eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, as well as various nieces, nephews, cousins, and his two K-9 companions, Clancy and Mili.
Services: A Memorial Service will take place in Cleveland, Oklahoma at a later date.
