Irene Emilie Wittmann Dollahite, age 72, of Water Valley, MS died Sunday morning, August 8, 2010 at her home. Born in Mannheim, Germany to the late Heinrich and Magdalena Elsishans Wittmann, she was a Catholic and worked as a receiving inspector at Borg Warner in Water Valley. She served as a Rebekah and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Irene enjoyed reading and working in her yard, and was affectionately known for creating delicious hamburgers at the Odd Fellows Lodge each week. She cherished her family, and her great grandchildren were her special joy.
Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10 AM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Ross and Bro. Fred Eakes officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 5 until 7 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Pinecrest Cemetery in Yalobusha County with Jim Ward, Charlie Huckaby, Jim Bouie, David Edwards, Clinton Mooney, and Lewis Green serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Scroggins, Jr. and Mike Gilchrist.
Irene is survived by her husband, Albert Dollahite of Water Valley, MS; a daughter, Brenda (Steve) Swearengen of Nesbit, MS; a son, Michael Henry Dollahite of Water Valley; two sisters, Elizabeth (Gunter) Knapp of Mannheim, Germany and Erika Wittmann of Toluca Lake, CA; one brother, Karl (Gisela) Wittmann of Mannheim, Germany; two grandchildren, Heather (John) McGraw and Zach McCraw; and two great grandchildren, Anna McGraw and Ashlynn McGraw.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Heinrich Wittmann, Jr.
