Laconia---Benoit C. Drouin, 77, of 150 Franklin Street, Lakeport passed away at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Friday, August 6, 2010. He was the widower of Elizabeth A. (Corriveau ) Drouin who died March 22, 2009.
Mr. Drouin was the son of the late Emile J. and Rose M. (Groleau) Drouin. He was born in St. Philibert, Quebec, Canada on July 28, 1933 and was raised in Coburn Gore, Maine before moving to Laconia in 1942.
Mr. Drouin had been employed at Scott & Williams for many years and later was employed at Franklin Brush-Ridson-AMS Corp. before retiring in 1995.
Mr. Drouin was a communicant of Our Lady of The Lakes Church, Lakeport. He chaired “Bingo” at Sacred Heart Church and was on the Parish Council. He also volunteered for the Food Pantry at St. Joseph Parish in Belmont.
Mr. Drouin was a Little League Coach for a number of years. He loved walking the ocean and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Maltais and her husband, Danny, of Gilmanton and Lise Johnson and her husband, Charles, of Laconia; two sons, Rev. Marc Drouin of Laconia and Thomas Drouin and his wife, Anne, of Laconia; nine grandchildren, Leah Fraser, Seth Maltais, Hannah Maltais, Dan Maltais, Jr., Jason Maltais, Melissa Maltais , Hillary Johnson, Matthew Johnson and Katelyn Drouin; two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Gracie Maltais; three brothers, John, Henry and Roch, all of Laconia; two sisters, Emiliette “Mimi” Beaudoin, of Meredith and Jeanne-Mance Dionne-Lambert of Laconia and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Wilbrod Drouin and Claude Y. Drouin.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 from 3:00-6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 11:00AM at Blessed Andre Bessette Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.
