John H. Rogers, 81, of New Bedford, formerly of Boston, died Thursday August 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Murphy) Rogers.
Born in Boston, the son of the late Charles and Irma (Moalli) Rogers, he lived in Boston before moving to New Bedford in 2006.
Mr. Rogers was formerly employed by the City of Boston, Highway Department for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion in Boston.
Survivors include a son, Michael Rogers and his wife June of East Bridgewater; a daughter, Nancy Crane and her husband Peter of New Bedford; seven grandchildren, Jason, Thomas, Peter John, Janice, Marlena, Angela, and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Christopher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private committal service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are omitted.
