East Bridgewater-Elliott L. Huntly, 81, died peacefully at home on Friday August 6th surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Enoch L. and Ella A. (Bawden) Huntly and was born in Tewksbury, MA on January 3, 1929. Mr. Huntly grew up in South Braintree and graduated from Braintree High in 1946. He enlisted in the army and served with the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th division in Korea.
Elliott was the beloved husband of 60 years to Ann M. (Melville) Huntly. He is survived by his sons Dana W. and his wife Kathryn Huntly of California, Daryl Huntley of Cape Cod, his daughters Donna and her husband John Baker of East Bridgewater, Dianne and her husband Wayne Erickson of Taunton, his sister Dorothy Fifield of Colorado, his brother-in-law Ralph and his wife Marion Melville of Colorado; also seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin granddaughters Alyssa and Kelsie Baker.
Mr. Huntly was a member of the Halifax Country Club, joining in 1969 when it was only a nine hole golf course and was a lifetime member of the Commercial Club of East Bridgewater. He was an avid Boston sports fan and also enjoyed gardening and playing bridge at the Middleboro and West Bridgewater Senior Centers.
Elliott was a long timer resident of East Bridgewater and worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., in Milton. He later moved to Halifax and was self-employed distributing bingo supplies to local charitable organizations. After retiring, he moved back to East Bridgewater in 2000.
His funeral services will be held on Friday August 13th at 10:00AM in the United Methodist Church, 54 North Central St., East Bridgewater, MA. Interment will be in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA, followed by a reception at the United Methodist Church, East Bridgewater, MA. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Dr., Braintree, MA 02184. Visiting hours omitted by request.
