Edna T. Chesley, 83, passed away on August 4th, 2010 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield. She was born in Malden on August 2nd, 1927 to her parents Rufus and Marie Saunders. Edna has been a life-long resident of Malden. As a young woman she worked as a telephone operator for the National Radio Company. She was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden where she enjoyed being part of the dance committee as well as being a member of the 1000 Club. She also volunteered her time helping to organize events held at the Jackson Suite in Malden which benefited the Malden Emergency Center. For many years, Edna also served on the Fourth of July Committee at Amerige Park in Malden. She is survived by her husband, Henry J. Chesley; by her children, Warren Chesley and his wife Carol of Wakefield, Robert Chesley and his wife Susan of Newton, NH and James Chesley and his wife Joan of Webster; and by her sister Catherine Luke of Wakefield. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Along with her parents, Edna was predeceased by her son Steven Chesley; by her grandson Jason Chesley; and by her siblings Florence LaVallee, Mildred Cass and Warren and John Saunders. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday August 7th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday August 6th from 5-8 PM.
