WORCESTER-Arthur S. Liazos, 93, of Worcester, died Wednesday, August 4th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His wife of 64 years, Kiriakitsa Liazos died this past January. He leaves two sons, James Liazos in Florida and George S. Liazos of Worcester; his daughter, Connie Simos and her husband Angelo of New London, CT; two grandchildren Angelika Karachristos and her husband Kostas, and Theodore Simos all of North Haven, CT.
He was born in Longos, Greece, the son of Stefanos and Konstantina (Prokos) Liazos. Mr. Liazos was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, serving at Guadalcanal where he received two purple hearts. He had been employed as a coffee roaster for Caravan Coffee. Mr. Liazos was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The funeral is Friday, August 6th with a service at 12:30 PM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Barber Avenue, Worcester, Ma 01606.
