Obituary

Rockland - Frank F. Dantas 92, a 45 year resident Rockland died Wednesday August 4th at his home and surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Barbosa) Dantas.

A son of the late Augusto and Maria (Feijoo) Dantas, he was born in New Bedford and raised in Cape Verde till the age of 17, then moving to the Boston Area.

Frank was a veteran of WWII having served as a S. Sergeant in the US Army from 1941- 1945. During his service in the Army he participated in the campaigns at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe, and earned marksmanship badges for his expert skills as a gunner and with a rifle, and pistol.

Before his retirement he had worked for Bemis Associates Textiles of Watertown for several years.

A self taught musician, he enjoyed playing many different instruments and was especially talented at the violin.

He was one of the founders and past president of the Ideal Club of East Bridgewater.

In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by his sister Eliria Pereira of E. Providence, RI and several loving nieces and nephews.

His services will be held on Saturday August 7th at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Family Church, Union St., Rockland. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 6 from 4-8 PM. Donations in his name may be made to Old Colony Hospice 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
