Maita Ruth Rockoff, 70, of Boston and formerly of Everett, passed away on August 3, 2010 at the Woodbriar of Wilmington nursing center. Maita was born in Boston and raised in Everett. She attended the Everett schools and was a graduate of Everett High School. Maita was also a graduate of Tufts University, Class of 1962. She worked at Tufts Medical Center for many years. Maita was an avid traveler, enjoyed ballet, attending the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and devoted friend to many.
Maita was the loving daughter of the late Maurice and Anne Rockoff. She was the dear sister of Sheila Elfman and her husband Harvey, and Phyllis Rockoff and her late husband Leonard. She was the devoted aunt of Amy Elfman, Douglas Elfman, Matthew Rockoff, and Lauren Rockoff. She is also survived by her aunt Frances Gordon. Maita was the dear friend of Jean Kelley.
Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea, on Thursday August 5, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Everett. Memorial observation will be held at the home of Sheila and Harvey Elfman, following the interment until 9:00 PM and Friday 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
