Tilton--- Shirley A. (Greenleaf) Marusa, 75, resident of the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH, passed August 3, 2010 after a long and courageous fight against lung disease.
Shirley was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, August 4, 1934, daughter of Charles P. Greenleaf, Sr. and Blanche (Williamson) Greenleaf.
Shirley served her country with pride and honor during the Korean War. She enlisted in 1954 as a WAC (Women’s Army Corps) and was the first female to join the VFW Post in Ashland, Massachusetts.
Shirley loved and adored her family and beloved pets immensely. She was an amazing artist of watercolor painting. Painting was one of her many passions.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Carol E. Daigle and her husband, Norman R. Daigle, Jr., of Gilford, N.H. and Nancy A. Hunley and her husband, Daniel Strain, of Ashland, Mass.: granddaughter, Natasha J. Furbish, and fiancé, Ryne Lawson, of Portland. Maine; sister, Janice Enman, and late brother-in-law, Robert Enman, of Framingham, Mass.; nieces, Darlene Herweck and family of Ashland, Mass., Linda Valente and family of Franklin, Mass. and Deborah Grandoni and family of West Brookfield, Mass.; nephews, Richard Grandoni and family of Natick, Mass. and Robert Grandoni of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and dearest friends, Rebecca Weiss of New Braunfels, Texas and Pearl and Norman R. Daigle, Sr., of Gilford, NH.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche (Williamson) Greenleaf, father, Charles P. Greenleaf, Sr., sister, Barbara Grandoni, brother, Charles P. Greenleaf, Jr. and former husband, Carl E. Hunley.
According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
