Obituary

Anthony Schiavo, of Medford, died Monday at Glen Ridge Nursing Home after a long bout with Lewy Body Disease. He was 78.

Mr. Schiavo was raised and educated in Everett, the son of the late Bennie and the late Amelia (Costello) Schiavo. A graduate of Burdette Junior College, Anthony served in the Army during the Korean War. Before his retirement, Anthony was a mail handler at South Postal Annex for 31 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 45 and the famed Schiavo Club of Everett.

The beloved husband of M. Patricia Mirabello–Schiavo, he was a devoted stepfather of Joan Stechenfinger and her husband Paul of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Sullivan and her husband Keith of Haverhill. He was a loving grandfather to Christopher Coates, Leeann Refermat and Paul Joseph "PJ" Stechenfinger. Anthony was pre-deceased by five dear brothers and two dear sisters.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Thursday August 5 from 11:30 –12:30 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford followed by a funeral service celebrated in the funeral home at 12:30. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In gratitude for the wonderful care given to Anthony the family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Anthony's name to the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center Activities Fund, c/o Nancy Beckel, 120 Murray St. Malden, MA 02148.
