WORCESTER-Joseph M. Christy, 85 of 27 Woodbine Street, died Tuesday, November 18th in Millbury Healthcare Center. He leaves his wife of 65 year Mary (Baker) Christy, a son Michael J. Christy and his wife Linda of Oxford, a daughter Kathleen M. Walsh of Worcester, 4 grandchildren, Edward F. Walsh and his wife Carrie of Worcester, Michael S. Walsh of Miami, Stephanie Wharton and Michelle Suklis both of Webster, 2 great grandchildren Michael and Erika Wharton both of Webster. A son Kevin Christy of Worcester died in 1991, and he was predeceased by two sisters Mary Otto and Josephine Casale.
He was born in Worcester the son of Michael J. and Mary J. “Mollie” (Donovon) Christy. In high school he played first chair violin. He was a World War 2 Army veteran. Mr. Christy had been owner and operator of Christy’s TV for many years. After retirement he had worked in Bradlee’s Electronics Department. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, and he enjoyed opera and classical music. Mr. Christy will be remembered as a devoted husband and a kind and loving family man.
The funeral will be Friday, November 21st, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, November 20th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
