TEWKSBURY - Catherine R. (Burns) Mullane, died peacefully Wednesday evening July 28, at age 92, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Mullane who died in 2003. Mrs. Mullane was born in Lowell on November 9, 1917, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Hitchu) Burns. She was raised in Cambridge and lived in Somerville before moving to Tewksbury in 1954. She was a communicant of St. William's and belonged to the St. William's Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas J. and his wife Mary (Gillis) Mullane of Rye, NH. Stephen A. and his wife Julianne (Jennings) Mullane of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Ellen Mullane-Davis of Haverhill, Julie Mullane of Cambridge, S. Daniel Mullane of Tewksbury, Lauren Mullane of Boston and Maura Mullane of Tewksbury; a brother Paul Burns and his wife Lillian of California; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Diane Mullane; and sister of the late Andrew Burns, David Burns, and Marion Conner.
Her funeral was August 2, at St. William's Church, followed by her burial at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to Greater Lowell VNA Hospice P.O.Box 1965 Lowell, MA 01853, will be appreciated.
