Obituary

Barbara Joan Cassara, 60, passed away on July 28, 2010 in the presence of friends and family. Barbara was born September 27, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary and Peter Hatkewitz. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School with an award in History and attended Queens College while working for Western Electric as a Legal Secretary in New York City.
Her interests were vast, particularly toward the church and cooking for loved ones, but also: The Beatles, Elvis, Stephen King , Humphrey Bogart, Alfred Hitchcock, the Twilight Zone, Jeopardy, I Love Lucy and most importantly, her children and grandchildren.
A devoted mother and devout Catholic, Barbara has touched the lives of everyone who came to know her, no matter how brief. She is survived by her children, Laura Dickens of Derry, NH and Christine Cavazos of Marlboro, NY as well as her grandchildren, Anthony and Sophia Dickens, whom she adored above all else.
Her strength and will to overcome hardship resonates among those who knew her as an amazing mother, grandmother, friend and now…angel in heaven watching over us today.
“…and we believe that angels breathe and that love will live on and never leave. Fly us up to where you are beyond the distant stars. We wish upon tonight to see you smile if only for a while to know you’re there a breath away not far from where you are”.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, July 31st at 10:00am in St. Matthews Church, 2 Searles Rd., Windham, NH, with cremation following.
