Laconia-----John Victor Hilberg, 70, of Laconia NH and Sedona AZ, died from cancer in Concord NH on July 26, 2010.
The son of Victor and Rosemary Hilberg, he graduated from Regis H.S. (NYC) and Fordham University. John also attended the Graduate School of International Studies (Denver) and the Free University of Berlin. He is survived by his wife Ingeborg (Stein) Hilberg of Laconia NH and Sedona AZ, son Eric Victor Hilberg of Newton MA, and daughter Lisa Rosemary Craig of Saratoga Springs NY.
After teaching 4 years at the University of Connecticut, he founded StockCross, the pioneer discount stock brokerage firm in Boston and later Calcogen, an alternate energy and cogeneration developer in California. Himself an Eagle Scout, John was an ardent supporter of the Boy Scouts, of numerous libertarian organizations, and of Enfield Shaker Museum (NH), for which he served as a trustee.
There will be no calling hours. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
