GENEVIEVE (KENT) BROWN, a Hingham resident since 1989, died on Sunday, July 25th, 2010 at her home after a brief illness. She was 62. Mrs. Brown was born in Jamaica Plain and spent her early life in Milton. She was a graduate of Fontbonne Academy in Milton, Fitchburg State College and achieved her masters degree at Antioch College in Boston. For 36 years she was a dedicated special education teacher in Cohasset and was devoted to the many students she prepared for life. She was past president of the Plymouth County Teachers Assoc. and was very active in the special olympics program in Massachusetts.
She was the wife of the late Robert B. Brown and sister of Ralph L. Kent and his wife Kathleen of Dedham, Alice Kent DeBarba and her husband Eric of Haddam, CT. and the late Patricia Kent Hampton. Aunt of Sarah Kent and her husband Gregory Blaha, Patrick Kent and his wife Erin, Elizabeth Cullen and her husband Christopher, Laura Hampton, David Hampton, Eric P. DeBarba and Ashley E. DeBarba. Also survived by her brother in law, John Hampton of New York City.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, July 30th at 11:30 AM at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Ave., Cohasset.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Thursday evening from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Friendship Home, P.O. Box 916, Norwell, MA 02061, a respite home and activities center for people with special needs.
The interment is private.
