Merton R. Murphy, 79, of Derry, NH, died Monday July 26, 2010, in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. He was born in Concord, NH on July 21, 1931, a son of the late Henry and Lyndell (Clark) Murphy, and had been a resident of Derry for the past 60 years, formerly living in Warner, NH. Mr. Murphy was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed for Honeywell in Lawrence, MA retiring in 1988. Mr. Murphy loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara A. (Fickett) Murphy of Derry; two daughters, Pamela Martin and Sandra DeVenne both of Derry; as well as four grandchildren.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, July 29th from 5:00 - 8:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Friday at 2:00pm in the funeral home. The burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Hampstead Road, E. Derry.
