Obituary

CHARLTON - Norman Moran, Jr., of Sturbridge Road, died Friday, July 23, 2010 in Oakwood Rehab & Nursing Center, Webster, after a long illness. His wife of 37 years, Susan (Tanguay) Moran, died in 2006.

He leaves a son, Norman Moran III and his wife Tammy J. of Webster; 3 grandchildren, Brandy, Bridget and Benjamin; nephews and nieces.

He was born and raised in Norwich, CT, the only son of Norman Moran Sr. and Rita (Leonard) Moran. He lived in Chaplin, CT for 28 years before moving to Charlton in 2005. He graduated from Norwich Technical High School in 1969. He was an honor roll student and excelled in drafting. He employed these skills in the construction of the Gold Star Bridge.

Mr. Moran was a forklift operator for a glass container company in Danielson. He then was a postal carrier in Chaplain and Eastford, CT for many years. He retired as a driver for the CSX Railroad.

He was a train enthusiast.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, August 2, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
