BEVERLY: O. Virginia (Moore) Dodge, 87, died Thursday, July 22, 2010 in the Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Ralph M. Dodge who died in April 2010. They had shared fifty-three years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on February 17, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Tinkham) Moore. She was raised and educated in Salem. She later married and moved to Beverly to raise her family.
Virginia enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Knit One Purl Two Knitting Club and was very proud of the garments she created while attending the Beverly Evening Adult Education classes.
She took great pleasure in hosting Christmas Eve parties in her home, the one time during the year that the family would gather together along with her hairdresser, neighbors and favorite waitresses. In recent years, Virginia enjoyed driving into the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club to admire the beautiful flower gardens.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth B. Weston of Haverhill, Keith E. and his wife, Lydia (Varnavas) Weston of Beverly, Deborah E. (Eanes) St. Peter of Beverly, Richard E. and his wife, Lola (Sharrock) Eanes of Beverly, Stephanie J. (Dodge) Johnson of Danvers, Eva M. (Dodge) Emswiler of Lewiston, ME and Ralph W. Dodge of Palm Coast, FL; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a niece, Deborah and her husband, James Cloyd of Beverly and her longtime friend, Betty Cleaves of Beverly. She was also predeceased by her son, James Eanes, two sisters, Gloria Cleaves and Gladys Voges, two brothers, Clifford S. and Norman G. Moore and a grandson, Glen Weston.
Her funeral services will be held on Friday in the Second Congregational Church, Conant St., North Beverly at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 -7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts St., Ste. 450, Newton, MA 02458-1287.
