FALL RIVER - Ernest N. Gagnon, 83, of Little Compton, RI died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Southpointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. He was the husband of Mary E. (Velez) Gagnon to whom he was married to for 60 years.
Born in Somerset he was the son of the late Louis and Yvonne (Lachapelle) Gagnon and had been a resident of Little Compton since 1949. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna, Little Compton. He was formerly employed for Bulova Watch Co. of Providence until his retirement. Mr. Gagnon was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 37, Little Compton, V.F.W. (Main Quarters) RI, Knights of Columbus, 3rd & 4th degree of Tiverton and a life member of the National Society Manufacturer’s Engineers. In addition to his wife he is survived by a brother: Jerome Gagnon of Newport.
Funeral Mass to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
