Obituary

NEW BEDFORD — Karen Renee' Spencer was born April 13, 1952, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Clifton Ross Jr., and Doris (Ross) Adkins and died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.

As a child, she was baptized in St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, where she was actively involved in her Christian life. Karen graduated from Girls Trade High School where she majored in cosmetology. She attended Boston State College, and worked for many years in Boston as a transportation driver for the disabled, in addition to spending many years in the hotel industry. After having 4 sons Karen stayed home to care for her grandmother "NANA" Frances Davis, later moving to Dayton, Ohio where she worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Hope Hotel until she retired early due to illness.

Karen enjoyed playing bingo, scrabble, and many board games. She was a die hard "trekky" and loved old scary movies. Her recent joy became surfing the internet and keeping connected with family and friends on facebook.

Karen is preceded in death by her brother Walter D. Ross.

Karen leaves to cherish her memories; (4) Sons, Daniel E. Woodley Jr. (Chimiene), Tayon B. Woodley (Laurie), J'Quan C. Colton and Du'ron K. Colton, all of Massachusetts; special friend, Ellis Morris; (4) Sisters, Jacqueline Ross, Arlene (Walter) Blount, Annette Ross-Gray, and Cliffette Ross.

Karen also leaves to cherish her memories 30 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation with a service will take place on Sunday July 25th from 2-5 p.m., in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., N.B.
