Barbara A. (Wilks) Crowley, 62, of Norton passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday July 23, 2010. She was the wife of Douglas A. Crowley, Sr.
Born in Boston, MA on June 25, 1948 she was a daughter of the late Louis Wilks and Dorothy (Betts) Lavoie.
Barbara spent her childhood living in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and later as a teenager her family moved to Derry, New Hampshire. She was educated in Boston and New Hampshire schools.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, she loved family events and especially spending time with her cherished grandchildren.
Mrs. Crowley had a special fondness for animals, cats being her favorite and she was also an avid Red Sox fan. She had made her home in Norton for over 30 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children Douglas A. Crowley, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Taunton, Robert T. Crowley and his wife Amy of Easton, Lisa A. Johnson of Poughkeepsie, New York and Christine L. McGrath and her husband Michael of Norton. She was the dear sister of Sharon Klopf of Attleboro, Louis Wilks of Derry, New Hampshire, Dorothy Wilks of Derry, New Hampshire and Gloria O’Donnell of Attleboro. Barbara is also survived by her loving grandchildren Sean, Nicholas, Sierra, Meghan, Victoria, Davion, Liam and Destiny, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday July 26th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Nine Lives of Norton Feline Rescue Shelter, Inc. P.O. Box 548 Norton, MA 02766.
