LOWELL - Robert A. Christian, age 79, a veteran and former Tewksbury resident, died Thursday evening, July 22, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Ashe) Christian, who died in 1985.
He was born in Cambridge, November 1, 1930, a son of the late Howard and Ruth (Cavanaro) Christian.
He served in the Army at the close of WW2.
He lived the greater part of his life in Tewksbury, where he and his wife raised their family. He had lived in Lowell for the past twenty years.
He was an industrial artist and graphic designer for Raytheon, and Sanders Associates. Later, after completing his paralegal studies, he worked for the office of the Massachusetts Attorney General during the tenure of Scott Harshbarger. He later worked for the legal advocacy group, Lowell Elder Services.
He is survived by three children, Pamela A. Christian of Cary, NC, Barry Christian of Wales, MA, and Dana J. Christian of Houston, TX; five grandchildren; a brother Norman Christian of NH; a sister, Ruth Henderson of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Lawrence W. "Larry" Christian.
At his request, funeral services were private. Memorials to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844, will be appreciated.
