Mrs. Cecile McCormick, age 63, passed away July 22nd, at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of John J. McCormick. Born in Cambridge she was the cherished daughter of Rose (Marino) Reader of Woburn and the late Andrew Reader.
Cecile was a resident of Woburn for more than thirty years and formerly lived in Somerville where she was raised and educated. She worked for over ten years as a cashier at the stop & Shop Super Market in Woburn. Mostly devoted to her family, she especially loved to be with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and was very creative with arts and crafts and floral arranging. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, traveling with family and friends to Aruba and also the occasional trip to Foxwoods Casino. Cecile was very independent person with a strong personality always willing to fight for what she believed in. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Along with her father, Cecile is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Toomey. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Jennifer Scali and her husband Rocco of Burlington, John A. McCormick of Woburn, and Jason McCormick of Burlington. She was the loving grandmother of Nicholas, Alexandra and Christopher Scali. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Castelli of Burlington and many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her dear aunt, Josephine DiJulia of Somerville.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
