Joseph L. Reilly 85, of 6 Birch Dr., died Friday, July 23 at The Meadows of Leicester.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Jeanne H. (Hamelin) Reilly, three daughters Barbara McLean of Ft. Myers, Fl., Linda Foley and her husband Patrick of Worcester and Cynthia O’Hara and her husband John of Spencer with whom he lived, a son Kenneth Kalloch and his wife Kay of Ft. Myers, Fl., a sister Catherine Polis and her husband George of Oxford, his brother in law Paul Hamelin and his wife Lorraine of Tarpon Springs, Fl., three grandchildren Brian P. and Tyler J. Foley and Ashley J. O’Hara, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Francis X. Reilly, Jr., three sisters Elizabeth Kennedy, Louise Perry and Rita McGee.
Joe was a salesman for 25 years at Mill & Factory Supplies, Inc. of Worcester, retiring in 1987. He was born in Cranston, R.I., the son of Francis X. and Catherine (DeBassio) Reilly. He graduated from South High and Clark University in Worcester. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy.
He was a former member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks, and was an original member of the “Growlers Golf League” at Hillcrest C.C. in Leicester. He enjoyed playing golf, working at Cyprian Keyes & Bedrock Golf Course, following his grandchildren’s academics and sports, winters in Ft. Myers, summers on the Cape and Maine. He was a survivor of the “Coconut Grove Fire” in Boston.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers at The Meadows, the staff at Dr. Batbouta’s office at the Fallon Clinic in Spencer, caregiver Valerie Jensen and Allegiance Hospice, especially Robin Hilton.
The funeral will be held on Monday, July 26 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 12p.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer.
