Shirley E. Schlink, 92, of Peoria passed away at 1:33am Wednesday July 21, 2010 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
She was born on Jan 19, 1918 in Peoria the daughter of Chester and Elsie Bauer Arends. She married Harold Schlink on July 12, 1969 in Peoria he passed away on March 30, 1990 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one sister Mildred Arends.
Surviving is one daughter Pam (Mike) Weaver of Peoria. She is also survived by three granddaughters Jill Reno of East Peoria, Melissa Buckingham of Peoria and Amy Hedden of Chillicothe. Also surviving are 3 great granddaughters as well as one cousin Marilyn Werckle of Peoria.
She was a 1935 graduate of Peoria High. She then attended and was a 1939 graduate of Bradley University with a degree in education. She was a teacher for many years at district 150 retiring on June 7, 1979. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, the Peoria Symphony, and a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, The Society of Arts and Letters, She was a past member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Bradley University
Cremation Rites will be accorded with a memorial service scheduled for 11am Friday at the Waters of Life Chapel at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria with Pastor Brett Bedwell officiating. Visitation will be one half-hour prior to her service at the chapel. Inurnment of her cremated remains will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name to Bradley University.
