Evelyn L. (Modig) Burns, 85 of Norton and formerly of Walpole died July 20 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro; she was the wife of the late Paul Burns.
Born in Norwood, September 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Peter and Inge (Sorenson) Modig, Mrs. Burns was raised in East Walpole and had lived in Walpole for many years before moving to Norton 20 years ago.
Mrs. Burns had been a secretary for the Kendall Company and also for the Bird Machine Company.
Mrs. Burns enjoyed doing ceramics, crocheting and occasional trips to Mohegan Sun.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Sheppard of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Paula Bassett of Mansfield and Susan White of Norwalk, CT and Osterville.
She was the sister of the late Signe Carlson and Robert Modig.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, MaryLou Comeau, JoAnne McNeil, Larissa Booras, Paul and Jennifer White, Lisa Webb and Kristina Bassett, and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a time of visitation in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24.
Services will be private.
