John M. Sirmans, 67, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 21 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with Bro. Travis Fussell officiating. Interment will follow in Old Valley Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Sirmans was born June 18, 1943 in Ocilla to the late John S. and Elda Whitley Sirmans. He lived in Ocilla most of his life. Mr. Sirmans was a former mechanic for Luke Peanut & Grain, former operator of the Texaco Station in Ocilla and a former dispatcher for the Ocilla Police Department. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law: Tammy & Bryon Phillips, of Leesburg; son: Benjamin E. Sirmans of Leesburg;2 grandchildren: brothers and sisters: Danny Sirmans, Katherine Barfield and Larry Sirmans, all of Ocilla and Ludell Hooker of Valdosta; nephew and caregivers: Chris & Redelia Sirmans of Ocilla as well as several more nieces and nephews.
