Larry L. Metternich, 72, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at his home.
Larry was born on April 14, 1938 in Moline, Illinois to Victor and Fern McCollom Metternich. He married Mary Ann Ripper Kibler on June 6, 1980 in Pekin. Mary Ann survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Gwen (Eric) Wilson of Galesburg; three sons, Bob Metternich of Tremont, Donnie (Kelly) Metternich of East Peoria and Scott (Anita) Metternich of Washington; a step-daughter, Kim Kibler of California; step-son, John Kibler of Washington; one sister, Pat Redenius (widow of Orland) of Carthage, Illinois; one brother, Dave (Lois) Metternich of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine grandchildren and his beloved companion and pet, Kelly. Larry was looking forward to the arrival of his first great grandchild in October.
Larry owned and managed Metternich Construction, a siding contractor for many years in Central Illinois.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Larry was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and also loved following the Fighting Illini. In his spare time he loved boating with his family, fishing trips to Missouri, taking in car shows and especially the Duck Tail Run for classic cars in Indiana.
A celebration for Larry will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 26 at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor John Rothfusz officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. and 30 minutes prior to services on Monday.
