Marion R. “Mae” Landry, 78 of 27 Rowell St. died November 15, 2003 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born in Laconia on May 19, 1925, the daughter of William and Olive (McEwan) Cole.
A lifelong resident of Laconia, she was raised in the Weirs section and was a graduate of Laconia High School. She also attended Bryant & Stratton College in Boston.
Mrs. Landry began her employment at Scott & Williams and later worked many years for Bergen Patterson Company. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she had been employed by the former Home Bank as a construction loan disbursement officer.
Her husband, Raymond "Pete" Landry died in March 1984.
She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed cooking for her entire family. Mrs. Landry was a talented artist of oil paintings.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes parish and was a member of the Emblem Club.
Family members include three daughters, Valerie A. Silberberg and her husband Alan Silberberg of Alton Bay, Kimberley A. Slattery and her husband William Slattery of Gilford and Monique L. Tidd and her husband Jeffrey Tidd of Gilford; seven grandchildren, Abagael Slattery, Hannah Slattery, Adrien Tidd, Andrew Tidd, James Tidd, Emmaline Tidd and Elliot Tidd; two sisters, Lillian Fralick of Belmont and Dorothy Rice of Tilton; three brothers, Hollis Cole of Laconia, Howard Cole of Weirs Beach, and John Cole of Bristol RI and Paugus Bay NH; nieces and nephews.She was pre-deceased by a sister, Marguerite Pickering and a brother William Cole.
Calling hours were in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St. on Wednesday at 10 AM. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 North Main St. Laconia NH 03246 or to the charity of one’s choice.
