Oscar Millard Merritt, age 65, of Douglas GA, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at home after a brief illness. Mr. Merritt, a native of Coffee County Georgia was born August 08, 1944; he is the son of the late Oscar Walter (Ott) and Mary Lizzie Worth Merritt. He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps having served during the Viet Nam Era. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Wray Holiness Baptist Church with Burial to follow in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: Wife, Iris Sparks Merritt, Douglas GA, Sons, Dan Keith (Debra Kay) Merritt, Richmond Hill, GA and Vance Allen (Sheila) Merritt, Rogers AR, Brothers, David R. Merritt and Jimmy Merritt, Broxton GA, Sister, Diane (Wayne) Tanner, Douglas GA, Grandchildren, Connor Merritt, Catherine Merritt, Kayla Merritt, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Sims Funeral Home; calling hours are 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
