Maryann E. Davis, 83, of Washington, passed away at 3:44 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Washington Christian Village.
Maryann was born on October 9, 1926 in Danville to Leslie and Cecile Johnson Kirkpatrick. She married George Davis, Jr. in Muncie, Illinois on November 19, 1944. He passed away in 1995.
Among those surviving are two daughters, Linda Davis of Fairmount, IL and Patricia (Michael) Supp of Urbana, IL; three sons, Michael Davis of Ft. Worth, TX, William (Sue) Davis of Avondale, AZ and Thomas (Carol) Davis of Washington; two brothers, Robert (Jewel) Kirkpatrick of Westville, IL and James (Myrna) Kirkpatrick of Fithian, IL; one sister-in-law, Waveadell Briggerman of Peoria; 8 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Maryann retired in 1996 from Oakwood High School where she had been a secretary.
She moved to Washington from Fithian in November, 1997, leaving the family farm home of 53 years. In Washington, she was active as a volunteer for OSF St. Clare and at the Washington Senior Center.
Maryann was an avid Cub and Illini fan, reading books when she had the opportunity and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes.
She was a member of Muncie Baptist Church in Muncie, IL and had attended Grace Bible Church in Washington.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Bible Church in Washington with Pastor Adam Kipp officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to services at the church on Saturday. Additional visitation will be at 3 p.m. at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian followed by a committal service.
Memorials may be made to either Grace Bible Church or Muncie Baptist Church.
