Obituary

Methuen, MA- Joseph D. Spatola, 88, died peacefully, Friday July 16th 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 2nd, 1922, Joseph was the son of Salvatore and Annetta (Pintaldi) Spatola. Educated in Lawrence, Joseph was a graduate of Lawrence high School class of 1939 and was a graduate of the Modern School of Machine and Design.
During World War II, Joseph served his country in the Army until being honorably discharged at Wars end.
For over 28 years Joseph worked for Western Electric/ AT&T in North Andover until his retirement.
Mr. Spatola was longtime parishioner of Corpus Christi/ Holy Rosary Church and a former member of the Union Social Club. He enjoyed reading, dancing, writing poetry and making origami birds. This past year, Joseph spent time at the Nevins Nursing Home Alzheimer’s Day Care, which brought a lot of joy and happiness to his life.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his wife of 29 years, Constance (Montefusco) of Methuen, 2 sons, Glenn Spatola and his wife Judith of Seattle, WA, Brian Spatola and his wife Marlene of Melbourne, FL, 2 step-daughters, Francesca Nice of North Andover and Kathleen Dubois of Vermont, 2 grandsons, 4 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Alfred Spatola of Andover and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the families request there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 22nd at 11AM at Corpus Christi/ Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence. Donations in Mr. Spatola’s name may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H.
