NORTH ANDOVER: Virginia B. (Bixby) Gielbunt, 93, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 in the Edgewood Retirement Community in North Andover following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Alfred Gielbunt who died in 1991.
Born in North Andover on March 20, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Emilie S. (Paselt) Bixby. She resided in North Andover for many years before moving to Atkinson, NH in 1976. She returned to North Andover several years ago. She was a graduate of Johnson High School in North Andover, the McIntosh Business in School in Lawrence and the Bryant and Stratton School in Boston.
She was employed for several years at the M.T. Stevens and Sons Company in North Andover. Virginia spent time volunteering at the Lawrence General Hospital and at the Kimball Public Library in Atkinson. She and her husband enjoyed many years square dancing together.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Royce Gielbunt of Davilla, TX, her daughter, Lois Davis of Middletown, CT, six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, a brother, Paul Bixby of Oak Harbor, WA. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert W. Bixby and a sister, Emily May Bixby.
Her funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts may be made in Virginia's memory to the Kimball Public Library, 3 Academy Ave., Atkinson, NH 03811.
