Obituary

ATKINSON, NH: Mary B. DeCoito, 98, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 in the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the wife of the late Amandio N. DeCoito.

Born in Grarciosa, Portugal on November 18, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Marie (Silva) Simas. Mary came to the United States when she was three years old and settled in Peabody where she lived as a young girl. She lived in Massachusetts and upstate New York until 1964 before moving to Atkinson, New Hampshire where she spent the rest of her life.

She worked for Western Electric in Andover until her retirement in1976. She also once worked at Sylvania in Danvers for many years.

In her spare time Mary enjoyed making crafts, teaching her grandchildren how to crochet afghans and spending time in her garden.

She is survived by her two daughters; Elaine Mortell of Hampstead, NH and Eileen Angers of Sandown, NH; seven sons, Amandio DeCoito of Groveland, William Coito of Atkinson, NH, Joseph and Frank DeCoito both of MS, Robert and Daniel DeCoito both of Haverhill and Richard DeCoito of Freemont, NH; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Isabel Mills and her son, Thomas Coito.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead, NH at 12 Noon. The family will be receiving relatives and friends prior to the Mass in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 9 - 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. Interment will be held in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Plaistow.
