Obituary

HAVERHILL: Henry "Hank" Martis, 84, formerly of Holiday, FL., died Thursday, March 4, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Jacqueline (Cushing) Martis.

Born in Medford on January 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Rogers) Martis. Hank was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and proudly served our country from 1943 until 1946 when he was honorably discharged.

He worked as a foreman for the Samson Aluminum Window and Door Company in South Boston for many years until his retirement in the late 1980's. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and watching old movies. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by them very much.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Robb of Bangor, ME, Peggy Connolly and her husband, Terry of Haverhill, a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Martis and his wife, Peggy of Franklin, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Thomas Robb.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At the request of the family, there are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Hank's memory to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
