DENSMORE, Ralph Paul, of Haverhill, age 81, longtime resident of the Boston area passed away quietly in the presence of family at home on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Mr. Densmore moved to Maine during his childhood where his fascination with exploration and purposefully getting lost was matched by his ability to climb trees to regain his bearings. His love for the state of Maine would bring him back to spend summers with his relatives the Garniss' in West Buxton. After leaving school in the ninth grade, Mr. Densmore began work as a machinist apprentice in Portland. Returning to Boston, refined his skills at Jahn Manufacturing Co. and Stoughton Tool and Die, at age 29, he was hired by New England Medical Center in July of 1965 to build custom-made heart pumps and monitors for federally funded heart research. His career spanned three decades working in Cardiology, Radiology and Mechanical Engineering. His thirst for adventure would lead him to become chairman for the Randolph Boy Scout Troop 109, Civil Defense Agency Administrator for Town of Randolph, and a member of the Boston Auxiliary Police Department. Joining the Civil Air Patrol in 1957, he spent the next years assisting in search and rescue, acting as Mission Coordinator and Land Rescue Team Leader for the Quincy and Brockton chapters of the Massachusetts Air Wing Guard, attaining the Rank of Major in 1965. Mr. Densmore was the Vice President for the ABWE Brockton Cadet Squadron Bagpipe Band which played in the 1977 Presidential Inaugural Parade for Jimmy Carter. An avid golfer, best described by friends and family as quiet, meticulous and having a frugality that was most decidedly Yankee. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 21, 1928, son of the late Ralph P. Dinsmore and Elsie Jeffrey. Predeceased by his wife Virginia (Earle) Densmore of Dorchester. Survived by daughters, Pamela Densmore, Tracey Densmore, Lynne (Densmore) Favreau and devoted son-in-law Paul M. Favreau and his granddaughters, Eva and Lillian.
