LEXINGTON: Armida M. Duprey, died Monday, January 18, 2010 in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.
Born in Madbury, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Marino and Letizia (Belmont) Viola. Raised in Haverhill, she attended Haverhill schools and was a graduate of Northeastern University class of 1973.
Armida began her career in the human resource field at the T.R.W. Company in Cambridge. She then took a position as the human resource manager at Wang Laboratories until her retirement. During her retirement she kept busy working alongside her daughter at the family owned flower shop. She was an avid tennis enthusiast and also enjoyed hiking, biking and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel D. and James A. Cross of Winchester, two sisters, Emma Metcalf and Gloria Viola both of Haverhill, and two nieces, Linda Metcalf and Karen Mann. She was also predeceased by a sister, Madeline DiMambro and a brother, John Viola.
Armida's funeral service will be held on Saturday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hearthstone Foundation, 23 Warren Avenue, Suite 140 Woburn, MA 01801 or to the Minuteman Senior Services, 24 3rd Avenue, Burlington, MA 01803. Interment will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill.
