GROVELAND: Jane K. (Lyczko) Modlish, of Nichols Village, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She was the wife of Edward R. Modlish, with whom she shared sixty happy years of marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Stella (Bienkowska) Lyczko. She had resided in Springfield and Longmeadow for many years, prior to moving to Groveland in 2006.
Mrs. Modlish was an office manager for the family business, Superior Plumbing & Heating, for many years, having retired twenty years ago.
An avid golfer, Mrs. Modlish was a longtime member of the Blandford Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a tremendous seamstress. She also enjoyed reading and was known to be a great conversationalist.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Edward R. Modlish, Jr. of Ludlow, Maura, wife of Carl Seiger of Tyringham, and Matthew G., husband of NancyJo (Khantzian) Modlish of Groveland, five grandchildren, Christopher, John, Carolyn, Jeffrey and Michaela Modlish and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the St. Stanislaus Church, 566 Front Street, Chicopee at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 4 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472-2790. Interment will be held in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee.
