Obituary

GROVELAND: Alice (Gusha) Harden, 88, died Monday, August 17, 2009 in the Merrimack Valley Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late David D. Harden.

Born in Worcester on June 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Effie (Peters) Gusha. Family was most important to Alice and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Alice was employed as a manager at AT&T for many years, where she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a communicant of the Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford and volunteered at St. Patrick's Church in Groveland for many years. Alice loved to bake and sew and was an avid reader. She was also an active volunteer at the Merrimack Valley Hospital.

She is survived by daughter, Maureen Leary of Delaware, a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen P. and Diane Harden of Groveland, six grandchildren, Ginny, Sam and Max Harden, Sean and Pauline Leary and Candace Morton, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Jim and Nick Gusha and a sister, Mary Weisman.

Her funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Langley-Adams Library, 185 Main St., Groveland, MA 01834. Arrangements are under the direction of the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill.
